Judo Assist Ireland Shines at Cork Open Championships
Judo Assist Ireland was proud and delighted to be invited to host a Judo Assist/Adapted Judo category at this year’s Cork Open Judo Championships. This was a great opportunity to include some of their JIDP Judo Program athletes. With over 40 Judo Assist players from across the country gathering in Cork to compete alongside their mainstream peers, the event was a true celebration of pride, respect, judo spirit, and above all, INCLUSION.
A sincere thanks to Damien Lane and his team at Kano Samurai Judo for the invitation and for delivering such a well-organised and welcoming event. A huge well done also to all the players who took part on the day; their enthusiasm and sportsmanship were an inspiration to all.
This event in Cork featured members of Judo Assist Ireland’s team and athletes who are currently involved in this incredible Erasmus+ Project. Now in its third and final year, this project has already produced a comprehensive adapted coaching education course, a healthy eating app, and a progressive judo program designed for people with intellectual disabilities and other life challenges – and we’re not finished yet!
