On November 28th and 29th 2024, the University of Granada proudly hosted the Conference on Current Perspectives of Combat Sports in Education, Sports Performance, and Health. This prestigious event brought together experts, educators, and practitioners from all over Spain to exchange ideas and discuss the evolving role of combat sports across various domains.
One of the standout contributions came from José Morales, the coordinator at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. Morales captivated the audience as he introduced and detailed the JIDP (Judo Intellectual Disability Project. His presentation highlighted the project’s innovative approach, emphasising its impact on education, physical development, and inclusivity in sports.
The conference served as a vibrant platform for fostering dialogue on the integration of combat sports into academic curricula, their role in enhancing athletic performance, and their significance in promoting overall health and well-being. Attendees left inspired by the exchange of knowledge and the forward-thinking initiatives presented, like the JIDP project, which underscore the transformative potential of combat sports in diverse contexts.
